To help your candle burn beautifully, start here.

1. Trim the wick, save the day.

Give that wick a tiny haircut (¼ inch!) before each burn — it keeps the flame dancing, not sprinting.

2. Let it melt like a dream.

On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way to the edges. It’s like teaching your candle good manners so it remembers how to behave later.

3. Keep the breeze at bay.

Drafts make your flame wiggle like it’s got stage fright. Let it shine in a calm little spotlight.

4. Burn in chapters, not marathons.

2–4 hours at a time is perfect. Think of it as a cozy little story session, not an all-night rave.

5. Don’t move it while it’s molten.

A warm candle is basically a mini lava lamp — inspiring to look at, not to carry around.

6. Stop before the finale.

When there’s about ½ inch of wax left, it’s time to say goodbye. Let the vessel retire gracefully instead of going out in a blaze of glory.

7. Keep it clean, keep it cozy.

If soot appears on the jar, wipe it off like you’re tucking your candle in with a fresh pillowcase.

8. Pets, kids, and curious hands…

Treat your candle like a tiny fireplace: magical to watch, not to poke.

9. Give it space to breathe.

Place your candle on a heat-safe surface and let it soak up the ambiance without roasting your shelves.

10. When in doubt, blow it out.

If the flame looks like it’s auditioning for a rock concert, extinguish, trim, reset. Even candles need a moment to regroup.
